Good Stuff

I've been on an increasingly desperate lookout for what I like to call proof of good humanity. Basically something, anything that proves we haven't lost the ability to do good as a species.

I found a shining beacon of positivity with the Carnival of Good Stuff posted over at Pollywog's Pond. My post on how to make people think you care about them is included, as are a pretty random collection of... well, good stuff. Go read! Happiness abounds!

It's no surprise to me that your lookout for good humanity has turned into a desperate hunt; it's also quite sad. Happy hunting!

my coworker just gave me two cookies.

yesterday, one of my students started a paper ball fight and everyone had fun and no one got mad.

my brother quit drinking and my other brother has let him hang out in his apartment til 5 every night, without complaints.

i give you...proofs of good humanity!

There are vast arrays of good humanity all over the place.... just look, open your eyes and you'll see it.

Just yesterday at the grocery store.. old woman trying to reach bread on top shelf..man walks over, smiles, asks her which one she wants and snags it for her. She thanks him, he says, you're welcome.

I was out walking the dog when a couple strolling by, their grocery bag broke and their groceries were all over the road.. myself and three others ran to help pick them up and I gave them a couple of my plastic bags to pack the stuff into in. Everyone smiled and went on their way.

Those are just two incidences.

Holly - so true. I'm still hopeful!

Michael, Jenn - Thank you! It's weird, but I actually noticed myself getting happier after reading those!

Cube - right on. Here's hoping anyway.

I'm volunteering at a spaghetti dinner to raise money for a privately run animal shelter. Also, you can join zootoo.com and do certain things to help animal shelters win a makeover (sign up and help Pet Connection Inc in East Aurora).

The other day I was at Aldi and the people behind me were just buying a loaf of bread. I almost bought it for them but they didn't seem "needy" enough. If they had been 10 years older I so would have done it. I'm sorry I'm stingy with my charitable acts. It would have been good to post that I HAD done it.

Next time I see some great works of humanity, I'll be sure to take note for you.
